The Jersey City Thanksgiving Trip!

The Jersey City Thanksgiving Trip!

Ah, Thanksgiving. This is a time of year for delicious food, good company, and gratitude for all we have. This is the time to reunite with your friends and family, even those you barely see once a year and who end up sharing embarrassing stories that make you wonder if even that one time was too much. We jest! A family get-together wouldn’t be complete without at least one awkward moment. So, with Jersey Social‘s “Thanksgiving Feast to Go,” folks can stop worrying about cooking a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and instead focus on coming up with the perfect excuse for not showing up at the next family reunion.

Everyone undoubtedly has a lot to be thankful for at Thanksgiving, but they should also be giving thanks to New Jersey. It has nothing to do with our famous pork roll sandwiches, Italian hot dogs, or the best pizza in the country (that’s right, New York, eat your heart out!). We are talking about one of our Founding Fathers, Elias Boudinot. He was a New Jersey congressman who proposed that a day of giving thanks would be the perfect idea after the difficulties experienced in the creation of our great country. President George Washington obviously loved the idea, which is why he issued a presidential proclamation on October 3rd, 1789, making Thanksgiving Day a national holiday for all Americans. With football, beer, and Jersey Social’s Thanksgiving feast, we are pretty sure Elias would have been a very happy man today.

Is this the question on your mind: “How do I spend the rest of the day when I’m getting my Thanksgiving feast from Jersey Social in Jersey City?” Fret not, we have got the answer! Three words: Liberty State Park. The Empty Sky Memorial should be at the top of your list. Dedicated to New Jerseyans who lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center in 1993 and 2001. The walls of the memorial direct visitors to the place where the World Trade Center towers once stood. And right after that is, of course, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. A reservation is a must if you want to enter the pedestal, crown, or museum. Then head on over to Liberty Science Center for a fun family session. Kids can learn while having fun through interactive exhibits, which is a welcome break from seeing their faces glued to tiny screens. Finally, cap off your day with a hike along the Hudson River Estuary Trail as you build up a mighty appetite before heading back to Jersey Social, where…

Turkey, Mac and Cheese, Mashed potatoes with gravy, and pumpkin pie await, all packed up and ready to go. So, check out our “Thanksgiving Feast to Go” menu to learn more about your options, and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We at Jersey Social, one of the premier sports bars on Jersey Avenue, NJ, truly believe that Thanksgiving is a holiday where gluttony is our patriotic duty. Because of this, we are thankful for the American eagle as well as for the Thanksgiving turkey. May one give us peace for all our states and the other a piece for all our plates.
